DENNIS RIDGE

After being away from Photoshop for a while I wanted to freshen up on my skills again. By doing that I taught myself how to make a double exposure using multiple images. I used photos of friends and family along with stock photos of watercolor paint drips and managed to come up with these original pieces.

Around June of 2013 I had just returned from a three week semester in Italy. After my culture shock subsided I wanted to come up with an art piece that basically summarized my experience while studying abroad.

I was playing around with the brush tools and the blending tools, and came up with this colorful collage.

In February of 2014 I wanted to get a few of my friends involved in my work, and got them to look like their favorite superheroes.

This piece I'm proud of the most.

This work was done in 2007. As soon as this assignment was announced I knew what the concept should be. Since chameleons have the ability to camouflage themselves to avoid their predators, I wanted to use that as my concept for this piece.

In January of 2014, I was listening to A-Ha's "Take On Me" on Spotify, and was immediately inspired to recreate their music video.

Around December of 2013 I taught myself how to create my own "universe". This was all done "from scratch", which means there's no photo template that I manipulated. I simply used a combination of filters on Photoshop.

Around the Fall of 2013, I found a site that offered free stock photos of textures, places, and natural elements (water, sand, fire, etc). Prior to finding that website, I taught myself how to create my own lightning bolt on Photoshop. This is the finished product.

For this photo I had discovered the History Brush tool. This tool allowed me to carefully blend two photos together seamlessly into one.

I am obviously a huge fan of Breaking Bad. I was such in awe of the intensity in this photo that I wanted to literally be a part of the picture!
